Manasa Prithvi
Understated elegance, restrained luxury, underlying functionality- these are the cornerstones of Manasa’s design ethos. An interior product designer and maker by profession, Manasa is fuelled with a sense of responsibility directed at reviving the Indian craft industry. Manasa holds a Masters degree in Visual Arts from University of the Arts London. During her course, she turned towards entrepreneurship setting up Ira Studio to create exceptional interior products.
Passionate about her roots- India, Manasa grew up constantly exposed to and surrounded by the rich heritage of Indian crafts and arts, developing a deep appreciation for their unparalleled creativity and indigenous nature. Soon she observed that the industry was stagnating and crafts became victims of cheap imitations, reducing them to archaic mediocrity. Dismayed by the growing apathy, Manasa realised the need for them to evolve as functional living crafts. Adapting and developing these antiquated traditions with contemporary minimalist sensibilities, she combines the dichotomy between these two design worlds in her work.
Obsessed with the creative industry, Manasa has a desire to explore and look for inspiration outside of her own field. She is constantly looking for ways to collaborate with creative people in pursuit of expanding her own creative realm.
